Requirement review / supplier coordination

Brake upgrade kit coordination without treating a catalog name as fitment

Define the requested service scope before asking suppliers for terms on a brake upgrade kit. Compatibility stays unverified until the producer answers against the stated axle, wheel clearance, caliper bolt spacing, disc size and kit bill of materials.

Define the coordination scope

Requirements review
The buyer supplies vehicle year/make/model, engine or chassis identifiers, OE reference for identification only, installed position, axle flange and spindle identifier, order unit in sets, and whether a booster or parking-brake mechanism is expected. Drawings can follow after first contact. This page does not create a fitment database.
Supplier questions
Ask about production scope, new versus remanufactured status, core charge if reman parts appear, sample options, material grade or surface finish statements, and documents tied to the exact kit, not to a family brochure. Gross package weight and packing unit must match the quoted set.
Quote comparison
Separate unit cost, packing, freight, taxes and service costs. Count left/right orientation and front/rear coverage before comparing two offers that share a kit name. Incoterms and destination ZIP code belong in the same ledger.
Order handoff
Record approved sample identifiers, batch traceability requests for later lots, unresolved interfaces, warranty scope and each party’s delivery responsibility. Sample approval is not automatic acceptance of the next batch.

Brakepath Sourcing coordinates these steps as an independent sourcing partner. Manufacturing claims, factory capacity and authorization statements belong to the named supplier if they provide them. Read the drum-to-disc checklist when the upgrade starts from drums.
